Lead screws, also known as power screws, are bars of lead with a thread, similar to a traditional screw but without a head. They are used in motion control to translate turning or rotating movements into a linear motion.
How do they work?
They sometimes work alongside nuts, a type of fastener that features a threaded hole. The threaded hole twists onto the lead screw thread. As the lead screw turns or rotates, the nut moves along the screw in a linear motion.
