3M IDC Connector, Female Gender, 1A Current Rating - 3000 Series - 3421-6620

Make contact with cabling in a snap with this IDC connector from 3M. By piercing through insulation to reach conductors, it cuts back the hassle of stripping away cable sheaths. Thanks to its gold-and-nickel-plated copper contacts, the socket handles power and data without a hitch. Simple click-together assembly means it's ready to get to work in no time. And, as it has built-in strain relief, there's no need to worry about attached wiring snapping under pressure.

Features & Benefits

• Compact pitch of 2.54mm to slot easily onto a busy PCB

• Durable PBT housing ensures it stays strong against wear

• Polarising key to stop damage from misaligned connections

Applications

• PCB systems

• Telecommunications networks

• Electronics manufacturing

What kinds of wire can I use this connector with?

This product takes solid and stranded conductors with cross-sections between 0.08 and 0.14mm², making it a versatile option.

3M 3000 Series 2.54 x 2.54 mm Cable Mount IDC Socket Connectors

3000 series cable mount industry standard IDC ribbon cable socket connectors with a 2.54 x 2.54 mm pitch. These IDC cable sockets accept 26 AWG and 28 AWG solid and stranded 1.27 mm pitch flat ribbon cable or discrete wire. The use of IDC contacts eliminates the need for prior cable preparation and stripping and provides a quick and simple interconnection system for mass termination. The contacts are made from beryllium copper which has a high resistance to corrosion, good wear resistance and better electrical conductivity than brass or bronze. The housings of these 3000 series IDC sockets feature dual slot military polarization to aid accurate mating with the header connector. The design of these 3000 series IDC sockets sets the standard for MIL spec and IEC standardization. These 3000 series ribbon cable sockets feature positive locking metal 'J' clips that ensure the cover of the connector is securely retained. The covers have a transfer adhesive on them that holds the cover onto the ribbon cable for precise alignment between the connector and the cables. This feature also results helps with the production of high yield terminations. A pull tab is available separately which is attached to the socket using a strip of adhesive. The pull tab is used to reduce stress on the cable terminations when the socket connector is unplugged from the mated header. A keying plug is also available which is plugged into a socket contact so that the male pin cannot enter it.
