RS PRO IPT 1800 Digital PSC and Loop Tester

RS PRO IPT 1800 is a great value, microprocessor-controlled PSC/loop tester. Its high loop impedance range permits direct measurement of ground spikes. Features include an auto lock-out if the test resister overheats.

What is earth loop impedance testing?

This is also known as loop testing. Earth loop impedance testing is carries out to make sure that if an error occurs in an electrical installation, there is enough current to flow in order to operate the fuse or circuit breaker protecting the faulty circuit within a predetermined time. The purpose is to make sure that the circuit is disconnected quickly in order to prevent overheating and possibly a fire.

What are PSC tests?

Prospective Short Circuit (PSC) tests are designed to calculate the maximum current that will flow within a fault loop path during the event of an electrical fault.

  • When conducting a test, particularly on earth spikes, do not touch any exposed metal work. If the overheat symbol appears in the display disconnect the device from the mains and allow to cool down.
