The Ixxat CM CANopen module for the SIMATIC S7-1200® basic controller includes HMS CANopen master technology in a compact format fully integrated with the SIMATIC hardware form factor. It enables system integrators to connect any CANopen or CAN 2.0A device to the SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC. The module plugs into the communication module interface of the S7-1200 and acts as a bridge between the CANopen or CAN devices and the SIMATIC basic controller, allowing integrators to choose from a wider range of automation products when designing their system. With the possibility to connect up to 3 CM CANopen modules per CPU and up to 16 CANopen slave devices in master mode, it offers a cost-effective, scalable system expansion.

The module is supported by an optimized and user-friendly CANopen configuration tool that enables users to quickly generate all required configuration data for the CANopen network. Thanks to the support for operation in transparent CAN 2.0A mode, system integrators have the possibility to implement any custom CAN based fieldbus protocol.
