From Microchip the EVB-USB5734 is a demonstration platform for designers to investigate the capabilities of the USB5734 USB 3.0 (also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1) 4-Port Hub Controller.
The featured device supports all defined USB speeds including 5 Gbps SuperSpeed (SS) and 480 Mbps Hi-Speed (HS) on all enabled downstream ports. The USB5734 integrates a USB 2.0 controller to decouple SuperSpeed data from slower USB 2.0 traffic to avoid bottlenecks slower USB 2.0 traffic can create.
Supported on the EVB-USB5734 is battery charging (max. 5A current) on all four downstream ports. The board is configured through internal default settings and also supports custom configurations through SMBus, or through the on-board 64-Mbit SPI Flash device. The EVB-USB5734 demonstrates driver compatibility with Microsoft® Windows® 8x, Windows 7, Windows XP, Mac OS® X 10.4+, and Linux® hub drivers.
