Looking to make your own test leads, then consider the RS PRO 4 mm male banana plug. This plug is the ideal solution for making test leads to your specification. Upon inspection, the plug connector offers high-grade plastic insulation with a centre contact made from nickel-plated brass with a beryllium copper lantern-style spring contact. It accepts test lead cables with a 4 mm dia. and is suitable for any standard 4 mm insulated or non-insulated socket.

There are many variations of banana plug connectors so it’s important to have a variety of cable leads of various lengths especially if you frequently use multi-meters, voltage meters, or oscilloscopes.
