It's a pulse isolator that separates electrical pulses from a switch, proximity detector, current pulse transmitter or voltage pulse transmitter in a hazardous area. The unit grounds current overloads to stop sparks and overheating, which could cause a fire. It features an innovative circuit design and isolating transformer, which offers explosion protection and safeguards electrical signals in hazardous areas. Use this galvanic barrier with your process and control instrumentation. It's suitable for either single-instrument loops or fully equipped cabinets.

What type of equipment can I use this galvanic isolator with?


This Eaton galvanic barrier is ideal for applications with high pulse rates and fast response time – such as real-time operating systems – as it repeats the pulses to a safe area. You can use a personal computer to configure the analogue output (which is proportional to pulse frequency) and relay output to act as an alarm.

The MTL5500 Series is the latest generation of MTL intrinsic safety isolators designed to meet the needs of the intrinsic safety (IS) interface market for application focussed projects, from single instrument loops to fully equipped cabinets. Incorporating advanced circuit design and innovative isolating transformer construction these isolators offer explosion protection and help protect electrical signals in hazardous areas ensuring a safe working environment.

DIN-rail mounting and plug-in signal and power connectors simplify installation and maintenance. These IS units are powered from a 20 to 35 V dc supply voltage, or, in some cases, from the signal itself.
