JST JI Hand Ratcheting Crimp Tool for Insulated Terminals

When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage

From JST a durable, reliable and easy to use hand operated crimping tool made from high quality materials. This crimp tool consists of two ergonomically designed handles with a soft grip for comfortable use, a ratchet mechanism and a precision ground die assembly. The die assembly has three colour coded cavities for wire sizes 1.25, 2.0 and 5.5 mm²

The ratchet is pre-set to a specific force and remains locked until the handles of the tool are fully closed and the dies are bottomed. The handles cannot be opened until a full crimping cycle is achieved therefore preventing partial crimps. Once the cycle is complete the handles will re-open. The ratchet also enables the operator to repeatedly produce consistent, high-quality crimps. If jamming or terminal misplacement occurs the handles can be easily opened by pushing a ratchet release lever

Over time it may be necessary to adjust the pre-set handle load force. This is achieved by turning a setting wheel positioned at the base of the head of the tool with a screwdriver. Turning this wheel anti clockwise will increase the handle force
