RS PRO 2 μF Polypropylene Capacitor PP 440 V AC ±10% Tolerance Screw Mount


Capacitators help spin electrical motors by providing a jolt of stored energy to the motor once it has started. This RS PRO polypropylene film capacitator is designed for use with single-phase induction motors and is suited to AC voltage.

The polypropylene capacitator (PP) has two very thin layers of aluminium film covered in a polyurethane flame-retardant resin. This insulated film allows the capacitator to be self-healing through weak points that absorb current in the event of a surge. That causes the metallised surface to melt and produce vapour that insulates the weak spot and allows the capacitator to continue working normally. It has a capacitance of 2 μF and is suitable for screw mounting.

This capacitator is commonly found in the motors of domestic electrical appliances. It is British, European and ISO 9001-2008 quality approved.
