Honeywell GLD Series Limit Switch, IP66, 6A Switching Current - GLDB01A4J

This limit switch is a Compact electromechanical device designed to detect and control position and motion in industrial systems. It uses a rod-type actuator to provide discrete switching for control circuits, suitable for harsh environments where a sealed enclosure and straightforward electrical connections are required.

Features and Benefits:

• IP66 rated enclosure prevents dust ingress and heavy water jets
• Fibreglass-reinforced thermoplastic housing increases chemical resistance
• Snap-action contacts deliver quick, reliable switching response
• 1NC/1NO contact arrangement enables versatile control logic
• Supports 240V AC switching at 6A for mains control circuits
• Mechanical life of 10,000,000 cycles minimises maintenance intervals

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in manufacturing lines
• Ideal for safety interlock feedback on access panels
• Used with motor starters for limit sensing in hoists and winches
• Can be used for position sensing in packaging machinery
• Used for status feedback in automated assembly stations

What temperature range can it operate within?

It functions across −40°C to 85°C, allowing use in cold stores and warm plant rooms.

How are electrical connections made?

Wiring is secured via screw terminals and routed through a PG13.5 conduit entry.

Which approvals support installation in regulated installations?

It holds CCC, CE, CSA and UL recognitions for use in multiple jurisdictions.

What type of actuation force is required to operate the switch?

The actuator requires an operating force of 0.12 N for reliable actuation.

How does contact switching perform on DC supplies?

It is rated for switching up to 250V DC, enabling control of DC circuits within that limit.

Warning

GLC and GLD limit switches are not safety devices. They should be not used as emergency stop or safety devices. They must not be used in applications where personal injury could occur as a result of product failure.

Standards

IEC/EN 60947-5-1
While IEC/EN 609747-1 covers general rules relating to low voltage switchgear and controlgear, IEC/EN 60947-5-1 specifically relates to control circuit devices and switching elements. The standard monitors the characteristics of devices, the electrical and mechanical requirements and the functional requirements.

EN50047
GLC and GLD limit switches are constructed from housing that meets EN50047. EN50047 applies to position switches with an automatic return actuator. Models that meet EN50047 feature standardised characteristics and dimensions (30.5 x 31.1 x 68 mm).

IP 66
A rating of IP 66 ensures that the limit switch units are protected against dust and low-pressure jets of water.

Sealed to NEMA 1, 4, 12, 13
NEMA 1 states that enclosures can be used indoor and offers a degree of protection against contact with the equipment enclosed.
NEMA 4 states that enclosures can be used either indoor or outdoor and provide protection against windblown rain and dust, hose directed water and splashing water.
NEMA 12 states that enclosures are intended for use indoors and offer some protection from dust, dirt, falling dirt and dripping non-corrosive liquids.
NEMA 13 states that enclosures are used indoors and offer a level of protection from oil, non-corrosive coolants, spraying water and dust.
