Discovery 2 USB PC Multi-Function Instrument


The Analogue Discovery 2 is a USB oscilloscope and multi-function instrument that allows users to measure, generate, record and control mixed-signal circuits of all kinds. The device is equipped with 13 test and measurement instruments in one device and can provide the functionality of benchtop laboratory equipment in one portable and powerful device which can fit into your pocket. This means users can work with analog and digital circuits in most environments in or outside of a laboratory.

The optional Discovery BNC Adapter Board provides standard BNC probe connections. The analog and digital inputs and outputs can be connected to a circuit using simple wire probes; alternatively, the Analog Discovery BNC Adapter and BNC probes can be used to connect and utilise the inputs and outputs. Driven by the free WaveForms software, the Analog Discovery 2 can be configured to work as any one of several traditional instruments, which include:

• 2-channel PC USB 14-bit 100Msps Digital Oscilloscope

• 2-channel 14-bit 100Msps Arbitrary Function Generator

• Stereo audio headphone/speaker amplifier

• 16-channel 100Msps Digital Logic Analyzer

• 16-channel 100Msps Pattern Generator

• 16-channel Virtual Digital I/O including buttons, switches and LEDs

• 2 x I/O Digital Trigger signals for linking multiple instruments

• Single-channel AC/DC Voltmeter

• Network Analyzer: 1Hz to 10MHz Bode, Nyquist, Nichols transfer diagrams

• Spectrum Analyzer: Power spectrum and spectral measurements (noise floor, SFDR, SNR, THD, etc.)

• Digital Bus Analyzers for SPI, I²C, UART and Parallel ports

• 2 x Programmable Power Supplies (0 to +5V, 0 to -5V)

• WaveForms 2015 (Mac, Linux and Windows Compatible) software

Analog Discovery 2 follows on from the Analog Discovery and improved features include:


• Ability to use an external power supply and consequently deliver more power to user supplies. When USB-powered, the Analog Discovery 2 delivers the same power as the Analog Discovery.

• New enclosure with enhanced design and improved connector reliability.

• Improved signal/noise and crosstalk performances for both the scope and waveform generator.

• Better defined bandwidth for both the scope and waveform generator.
