Festo Non-Return Valve, G1/4 Threaded Inlet and Outlet, Zinc Body - HGL-1/4-B

This piloted non-return valve from Festo is used to increase safety in pneumatic systems. It's on hand to shut off exhaust air from the drive unless a pilot signal is applied. The die-cast zinc body is robust and stands up to corrosion, so you can depend on the unit in harsh and damp conditions. Nitrile rubber seals and a non-return sleeve prevent leakage, ensuring reliable and efficient function. Valves like this one are frequently used for short-duration positioning and braking of pneumatic actuators.

• Wide operating temperature range of -10°C to +60°C for safe use in harsh environments

• POM release ring combines low friction with high dimensional stability so stands up to regular connection and disconnection

Applications

• Construction industry

• Mining machinery

• Robotics systems

What safety considerations are there with pneumatic systems?

Pneumatic systems feature various potential hazards. You need to ensure the machine doesn't start up accidentally, that excess air pressure doesn't build up in the system, and that compressed air doesn't enter a human cavity such as a nose or ear. Compressed air exiting the exhaust is also likely to contain particulates that can be harmful if inhaled.
