RS PRO IEC Mineral Insulated Type K Thermocouple with Miniature Plug (1 x 1000mm)
A hardwearing type K thermocouple with a single element insulated hot junction reducing electrical interference and terminating in a flat 2 pin miniature plug connector. The type K thermocouple features a flexible 1 x 1000mm probe designed to be bent or formed to suit a wide range of applications and flexible mineral insulation providing excellent response times.
The type K thermocouple probe is constructed from Stainless Steel for its excellent strength and corrosion resistance and features a robust IEC colour coded thermoplastic connector housing reliable and hardwearing thermocouple suitable for temperatures of -40°C to 750°C.
The Stainless Steel thermocouple is suited to a wide variety of applications and is commonly used in heat exchangers, power stations, brick and cement kilns, heat treatment and annealing furnaces, thermostats, food thermometers, vehicle diagnostics and in laboratories.

What is Mineral Insulation?
Mineral insulation is used to insulate the thermocouple wires from one another and from the metal probe sheath that surrounds them. The sheath is filled with a highly compacted magnesium oxide powder that prevents the conductors from making contact with one another other than at the fixed junction. The high density of the mineral powder enables the thermocouple to have a rapid response as it promotes a fast heat transfer between the conductor and the sheath. Mineral insulation also helps to protect the thermocouple wire from environmental damage including corrosion, prevents electrical interference and allows the cable to be flexible whilst maintaining its mechanical strength
