StarTech Active Optical Cable, 3840 x 2160 Maximum Resolution, HDMI Video Connection Type - 146B-USBC-HDMI4K-AOC

This Active optical cable converts a USB-C DP Alt Mode signal to HDMI for long-distance video delivery. It is designed to link USB Type-C, USB4 or Thunderbolt sources to 4K displays while reducing electromagnetic interference through a Fibre optic core and EMI shielding. The assembly integrates the adaptor electronics with the cable and requires a USB Type-A power connection for operation.

Features and Benefits:

• Supports 3840 x 2160 resolution at 60Hz for high-frame-rate displays
• CL3 rated in-wall fire performance for permanent installations
• OM3 multi-mode Fibre with Active booster for extended reach

Applications

• Suitable for connecting laptops to remote meeting-room displays
• Ideal for routing 4K signal through structured cabling runs
• Used with Thunderbolt 3/4 devices for long-distance HDMI output

Is the cable bidirectional?

No, it is unidirectional and only transmits from a USB-C source to an HDMI display.

How is the cable powered when used with displays?

The HDMI connector includes a 1.4ft USB-A power lead that must be connected to a USB-A port or USB wall charger.
