StarTech Fibre Optic Cable, OM4 Fibre Type, 15m Cable Length - 450FBLCLC15

This Fibre optic cable provides high-speed multimode connectivity for data networks, designed for use with short-wave VCSEL and LED sources. It connects LC/UPC duplex terminations and is enclosed in a flame-retardant LSZH jacket for installations where low smoke and low halogen emissions are required. The cable supports high-density environments and interoperates with common transceiver modules.

Features and Benefits:

• 100Gbps support for high-throughput links
• 50/125μm core supports VCSEL sources
• OM4 modal bandwidth 2000MHz·km at 850nm
• LSZH jacket reduces toxic fumes if combusted
• Low insertion loss from UPC‑polished ferrules

Applications

• Used for 40GBase-SR4 OM4 multimode cable deployments
• Suitable for high-density OM4 Fibre for data centres
• Used with SFP+ compatible OM4 patch cord transceivers
• Can be used for 100GBase-SR10 QSFP OM4 cable arrangements
• Suitable for -20°C to 60°C rated Fibre optic cable environments

What connector polish improves return loss characteristics?

The connectors use UPC‑polished ceramic ferrules to reduce return loss.

How is tensile strength achieved without increasing diameter?

Aramid reinforcement within the jacket provides increased tensile strength while maintaining a Compact form.

What testing ensures optical performance prior to dispatch?

Each cable is individually tested for insertion loss to meet acceptable optical limits.

Which wavelengths does the cable support for transmission?

It is optimised for 850nm and 1300nm operation with LED/VCSEL sources.
